Chideock, Dorset: 3 hour full peal. Rung 7th October 2013.
A full peal rang by captain of the bells at Chideock, Dave Symonds, captain at Whitchurch Canonicorum Mark Symonds and Timothy Collins, who has rung nearly 3,000 peals to date.
This is (probably) the only full uninterrupted video of a peal on RUclips and was filmed for the A Tale of Two Bell Towers project. Subscribe to our channel for more updates. The project will culminate in a half hour documentary, documenting village lives in two West Dorset villages after the restoration of both their churches' bells and bell towers.

Chideock Quarter Peal
Просмотров 5 тыс.10 лет назад
Full 51-minute video of the historic Quarter Peal rung on 4 September 2013 at the Church of St Giles in Chideock, West Dorset. This was the first quarter peal rung since the bells in the church tower were restored and the whole configuration of the tower was altered. If much of the ringing chamber looks new, that's because it is! This quarter peal was also the first ever rung by Chideock's Capt...
Dorset: First bell ringing on Chideock's St. Giles viewing gallery since Victorian times
Просмотров 6 тыс.11 лет назад
The bells of the tower of St. Giles church in Chideock fell silent for a month and a half recently, while work was carried out to install a new floor and viewing gallery in the bell tower. Once installed, the Chideock Bell Ringers were keen to ring the bells for not only the first time in six weeks, but the first time on a viewing gallery since Victorian times. We see captain of the bells, Dave...
Dorset: 2013 Whitchurch Canonicorum Flower Festival
Просмотров 56711 лет назад
The annual flower festival inside the famous West Dorset church of St Candida and the Holy Cross in Whitchurch Canonicorum is a visual treat. Not only is the church a uniquely fascinating and beautiful building, the displays are arrestingly clever and appealing. The theme in 2013 was hobbies and pastimes, hence the decorated bicycle wheel between the lectern and the organ, and the shrine of St ...

The process of bellringing as you have never seen it before. We filmed one of the bellringing sessions at the church of St Candida and the Holy Cross in Whitchurch Canonicorum. Whitchurch's captain of the bells, Mark Symonds, calls out "treble's going... she's gone" and the bells swing into action.

Dorset New Year's Eve: Dave Symonds muffles Chideock bells
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.11 лет назад
"Out like a lamb - and in like a lion." That's the traditional approach to bell ringing in Dorset on New Year's Eve: the old year goes out like a lamb and the new one comes in like a lion - an effect achieved by muffling the bells so they can be rung more quietly before midnight, then the muffles are taken off, and the bells sing out. It's a particularly special occasion this year in the villag...

Christmas in Dorset: Whitchurch Canonicorum Tower Lights
Просмотров 1 тыс.11 лет назад
The bellringers at Whitchurch Canonicorum in West Dorset put up Christmas lights around the top of the bell tower of the historic church of St Candida. The lights can be seen across the Marshwood Vale, from Marshwood itself and from Hardown Hill, and getting them to go around the outer edge of the tower is an enjoyable job - if far from straightforward. This video starts with a timelapse of the...
